Day Trip From Airport

Going to be in Denver in October. Flying in at 10am Renting a car and staying the night in Denver, Is there a mountain and hiking on the way? Where should I go? Spending the next 3 days in Denver. Thank you.

Either going north, to Rocky Mountain National Park, west to Summit County (Frisco, Breckenridge) or south, Colorado Springs (Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak Railroad, Air Force Academy, etc.)

No, there's not a mountain on the way from the airport in to Denver, but you'll be able to see the mountains! We probably should post your question on the Top Questions section, as many visitors expect to arrive in Denver and be in the mountains, but it is located just east of the mountains which run through much of Colorado. You may hear the term "Front Range" or "Eastern Slope." Since you'll have a car you can drive up into the mountains as Treplow suggests. Here are some more ideas:
