Summer Trip - Two Questions

Hello:

My son from ND just took a job in Farmington. Looks like we will be making a couple of trips to the area this year.

For our summer trip, we are planning to stay in Durango for the weekend. Does Durango have taxi's?

Also, what are some must do's for a 1st timer? We like to hike and come from very flat land so we would be interested in easy hiking. We love the outdoors and are not into doing a lot of shopping.

Thank you in advance!

2 "must do's" in the area:

Ride the Durango and SIlverton Train. You can ride it both ways from Durango to Silverton, or take the train one way and a bus the other. Check their web site for all the options.

Visit Mesa Verde.

If you're in Farmington during the week, you should make sure you get to Something Special Bakery (Auburn St.)for breakfast (baked goods) or lunch or for the best Mexican, head to Dona Maria's (San Juan Blvd).

For a nice walk along the river, go to Berg Park (off of San Juan or Browning).
