Questions about Georgetown Loop with kids

We are planning on doing the Georgetown Loop RR Memorial Weekend. Is there a reason to prefer starting at Silver Plume or Devil's Gate? Anything about parking, nearby attraction, views that would make a difference? We will be going with 3 adults and 4 kids, ages 7,4,4 and 2 1/2. Any thoughts on whether it would be ok to do the mine tour with kids that small? My sister is really into the idea of visiting a mine. All the kids can walk- the youngest is usually good for about a mile. Thanks in advance!

1. Re: Questions about Georgetown Loop with kids

There is a lot more parking at the Devil's Gate station. I've seen young kids on the mine tour, but not younger than 4. I'm not sure it's suitable for a 2 1/2 year old.

This from their website: http://georgetownlooprr.com/mine-tour

NOTES & TERMS: The mine tour is not recommended for young children who cannot walk the entire distance on their own...Strollers are not permitted.
