Hanging Lake

Is this hike appropriate for 6 and 8 yo?

It's not long (about a mile to the lake), but it's a bit steep, going up a rocky creek bed some of the way, which sometimes has water running through it. I've seen kids doing this hike, so give it a try and if it's not working for you, just turn around.

I would agree - it's doable. We did it when our son was maybe 7? And it was in the winter when the trail was partly frozen over. It's worth it once they get up there, so just keep encouraging them along the way (and maybe wear earplugs!).

The trail is 1.1 miles and you climb 1100 feet. It is rocky and shorter children may need some help. Take plenty to drink and some snacks. There are no facilities except near the parking area. If you and the kids have acclimated and they are fairly active, take your time on the trail and you should be fine.
