Golden is the home to Coors, (now Miller/Coors) one of the worlds largest single site breweries. The tour isnt long and is fun, and ends with free tasting. A drive above town to the top of "Look Out" mountain is scenic and there is a museum dedicated to Buffalo Bill Cody, who's grave stone is located there. As the sun sets it provides a very unique view of the Denver metro area spread out below. Golden is also the gateway up Clear Creek which is followed by US6 hiway to the old mining towns, now gambling towns of Blackhawk and Central City. There is abundant old historic sites there, but unfortunately, gambling is now king. Denver downtown is only about twelve miles away straight down Colfax or Sixth Ave Freeway from Golden so you will have so many things possible that you should not be bored! Just north is also the hiway to some Jefferson County open space parks, and Golden Gate Canyon State Park. Eldorado Canyon State Park is just about twenty miles further up hiway 93, and all these offer great photo ops and wildlife as well as biking and hiking if you would like. Hope you enjoy your visit!

Coors Brewery tour is worthwhile, http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/8182

also the railroad museum http://www.coloradorailroadmuseum.org/

…uptake.com/colorado/…995920025.html several area tours/attractions, etc. listed here. (cheap and free)

We were only passing through so we did the two top attractions in my post that I spoke of.

gdcall, you might do some searching on these forums for topics such as "things to do in Denver" or "Denver sightseeing" etc because you can easily visit anywhere in the metro area with Golden as a base.

I haven't toured with this company so can't personally recommend them, but their tours sure seem nice for someone who wants to see a lot in a short amount of time without having to drive and navigate:

coloradosightseer.com/winter/ultimate.html

Their tour prices include snacks, sodas and any admission charges.

To CaptainRon and hatchpal's suggestions I would add these suggestions for you to consider:

--a visit to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge if you happen to visit on one of their tour days

fws.gov/rockymountainarsenal/visitors/vc.htm

--visit the Denver Story Trek website for ideas-- http://www.denverstorytrek.org/

--visit the Hiwan Homestead Museum

…jefferson.co.us/openspace/openspace_T56_R10…

--tour the Denver Mint or the Colorado State Capitol

--visit the Molly Brown House http://www.mollybrown.org/ the Art Museum, the Colorado History Museum,

Have a fun trip! We'll be looking forward to hearing about it.

If you are into science, renewable energies, solar, etc, you might find a visit to NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) to be interesting. They have a great visitors area and they are located directly in Golden. http://www.nrel.gov/visitors_center/
