Spyderco Factory

Hi, this may sound like a silly question considering there is so much wonderfull things to see in Colorado, but my husband is interested in visiting the Spyderco (knife) factory in Golden. Is this worth a visit? What else is there to see in Golden and is it worth spending the day there?

I don't recall anyone asking about that before, so I hope someone else will know about Spyderco.

But there's quite a bit to see in Golden, depending on your interests. The railroad museum is interesting and fun, and there's the Clear Creek History Park self guided walking tour and other Golden Museums.http://www.goldenhistorymuseums.org/

Red Rocks Park is not far, and there's Dinosaur Ridge. Of course the Coors factory tour if that interests you. Golden visitors sometimes also take the drive to Lookout Mountain to see the view and the Buffalo Bill Museum. There's all the attractions at Heritage Square, including a fun alpine slide.

Golden is sort of a cool little town. They poke fun at themselves by putting out there a "2 hour vacation" plan. I don't know of a tour of the factory but they do have a factory outlet store in Golden. You might send them an email for info - www.2hourvacation.com/shopping_detail.php… gives you their contact info.

Looks like you are out of luck. From the spyderco forum:

Rock,

Senate and 4 s ter are correct, due to insurance restrictions we cannot give tours of the production area. However, don't forget that the store is now inside our building, so you'll be able to come in. Let me know when you decide to come and if it falls on a weekday.

Hope you can come out!

Kristi

Hi Thank you all so much for your info. We definitly want to go to Spyderco - my husband won't have it any other way LOL. So thank you for that. I possibly would be a weekday.

We are on our Way to Glacier NP and are hoping to drive the going to the sun road. Do we need to book accomodation ahead in or out the park or can we just drive and find something. Other times when we traveled we booked stuff and then alot was available. But we are really looking for comments from Locals on what they think the best things are, because we have never been to Colorado or Montana and don't really know what to expect. So any tips from flying in to sight seeing and scenic byways we are interested to know. We have never seen a Rodeo so we were hoping to stay in Cody on our way to Yellowstone or are we better staying inside the park? We like outdoor things and nice interesting local excursions.

Thank you very much I will look into all those websites. On a separate note we don't have that much time - but if you had to choose between Rocky Mountian NP and Grand Teton, which would you rather visit? We realise that our 3 weeks holliday is not very much - so much to see and do there......
