big horn sheep?

Are there any good spots where we might be able to photograph big horn sheep near Grand Juntion late April (2010)?

Ouray (OurayColorado.com) is about 2 hours south of GJ and we have a resident herd. I just saw them yesterday off of Ouray County Road 14. In late April, they are still down low, typically. You can usually find them all winter long if you are patient in that general area.

They need steep mountains and I am not familiar with the mountains north of GJ so I can only attest to the southern route.

There is a herd which we often see in Dominguez Canyon. We hike in via Bridgeport...here's a link with more details:

WingLady, I have heard from several people that there are some problems with the right of way into the Dominguez Canyon from the point you described because a local property owner is in dispute with the BLM over what is his property and what is public land. Have you had any problems yourself or heard of others being turned away?
