Rocky Mountain National Park - backpacking & campsites

Our family of 4 (all adults 20-60 year olds) with experience hiking in new england will be in RMNP the end of June. We are looking for recommendations for 2-3 day backpacking hike most likely hiking into a site and then doing day hikes from there. We would appreciate any suggestions of hike you have particularly liked, as well as backcountry campsites that are special (views, on a lake, etc) This is our first time to the area. Also rrecommendations on how to avoid altitude illness.

Thank you!

Backpacking is not my area of expertise but there are some good suggestions at this site.

rky, the other DE for RMNP will tell you that your best source of information on great backcountry sites and backpacking is to talk to the rangers at the RMNP visitor centers. There is a separate backcountry phone number. See this link for more info.
