Steamboat Condos in Town to Try -- Suggestions?

Hi,

In looking at the development in Steamboat, my husband thought he saw some newer condo developments that are close to town. Does anyone know of some newer properties with good rates that would allow us to walk to dinner. We will have a car but would like to avoid driving to ski as well as dine. Also looking at Lodge at Steamboat Mountain for ski-in/ski-out....just trying to decide whether to drive for skiing or for dining. Thanks!

if not already visit SB sites below, esp forum. Lots of good cross-talk there. Deals can be had. Try Torian Plum, Bear Claw I and II, Ptarmigan (almost ski in/ski out), and Sheraton Steamboat. Shuttle transport is excellent in the boat.

We have been to Steamboat a number of times...just not in the past 5 years. Have stayed at condos for most ski trips, did Bristol Hotel prior -- just wondering what might be convenient to town as it is easy to find the info on ski-in/ski-out. Thanks again for any help...we do like to go out at night (not early birds) so staying in town might be the better option for us.

The new condo developments are downtown. Everything downtown would be walking distance and you would then take the free city bus to the mountain to ski (about 3 miles or 20 minutes on the bus). There are not any new ski-in/out options. The Lodge is close but not ski-in/out and not new but is a great property. The have private shuttle service you can use to go downtown for dinner.

There are very few developments downtown that cater to tourists. If you are coming for a ski vacation, your best bet is still around the base of the ski resort.

If you want to walk to dinner, one of your best bets would be Torian Plum. Torian sits above the Torian plaza shops and restaurants which include Cafe Diva - undoubtedly one of Steamboat's best restaurants; Saketumi, a great modern American sushi restaurant and for more casual dining, Slopeside bar. Across the road is the famour night spot, Tugboat. You can also walk to the Sheraton restaurants, and across the resort to La Montana.

Then, ResortQuest, who manages the Torian provides an on-demand shuttle to take you to downtown restaurants, like Bistro CV, Antares, Cottonwood, and my favorite Italian restaurant, Mazzolas.

If ski-in/ski-out is unaffordable, then look to properties up to two blocks away, like The Lodge, Trappeur's Crossing Resort and EagleRidge Lodge.

Really, the main lodging options downtown are basic hotels.
