Monument Lake

We visited this area a couple of years ago in October and the fishing was great! We came back in March the following year and were unable to fish due to someone contaminated the lake with "sucker fish" and killed most of the trout. Do you have an update on the fishing in that lake or the surrounding lakes? We are planning a trip in October again.

I'll be there this coming September and will of course check that out. I think I'll contact the forest department or park ranger and see before tempting that lake.

If it's the same monument lake I'm thinking of, you can call the "resort" near there (http://www.monumentlakeresort.com/index.html) - they might know the answer for you. I know they have a few fishing tournaments this summer, but I don't know if it's open to public fishing.

My husband and I fished Monument Lake just last week. It is open to public fishing, even though there have been tournaments recently. We didn't catch a lot of trout like we had in years past, but we were told that it had recently been stocked with trout and that the fishing had been really good in the past few weeks. Just for the record, we caught a lot more fish at North Lake than at Monument.
