New Years Eve in Vail

Hi, there are four women in our late 20's early 30s travelling to Vail for New Years. None of us have ever been to Vail and are trying to work out options. We are looking for a festive place for dinner that has music and dancing as well... any recommendations?

do a TA search <new years eve> in Vail forum for helpful hints. Once you decide on a place book immediately. These venues fill up quickly.

Check www.opentable.com for dinner venues with reservations still open. It is not a complete listing, but there were still a few openings. There is also a torchlight skidown at Golden Peak with a street party and music in the village.

The ski-down parade is a MUST DO! Stay IN the village for your best experience, IF you can still find anything. Most restaurants will have a (pricey) pre-fixe menu or hefty cover charge for the evening, so be prepared & book as soon as you can. I do not know who will have dancing. I know that most of the larger hotels usually do: The Lodge at Vail, Hyatt (in beaver Creek) Marriott, Cascade etc. The street party is fun but DRY> No open containers or alcohol are allowed in the streets, but that does not keep people from hanging out & having a good time!

Would appreciate some advice for NY Eve also! We are staying at the Arrabelle. Two adults and two teen aged girls.

For NY Eve we were planning to go to Golden Peak and watch the fireworks and then go up to Game Creek Lodge for a NYEve Dinner at 8:30 pm. Is that trying to do too much in one night?

Do not know the area and how long it takes to get from where you watch the ski parade & Fireworks back to get the gondola up the mountain.

Or would you suggest watching fireworks and ski parade and trying to find a dinner in town instead?

I'd say do it all plus trying to get a dinner reservation at this late date for NYE may be impossible.

I believe the torchlight ski down is at 6:15p then they do they fireworks afterward. You can just get on the in town shuttle from Golden Peak which comes by about every 10-15min and take it to Lionshead to get on the gondola. You need to be on the gondola 30min before your dinner reservation time. So that should give you enough time. As said previously, make sure to get a reservation as soon as possible, as they tend to book up quickly.

Also, to the first post - most of the restaurants that will have music with dinner - have the music in their second seating and are more expensive. If you don't want to spend that much, you might want to make a reservation for an early seating and then just hang out on bridge street. They usually have a midnight fireworks in golden peak as well
