Elways in Vail

Hi all,

Looking to do a private dinner for about 30 people in Vail - not crazy expensive - and just saw Elways opened up a few days ago. Any thoughts on it? Other recommendations for spots with a private room for dinner in Vail? thanks!

Here's a link to the Elway's site, I've heard the room is very pretty, haven't heard about the food yet. The menu looks expensive to me, but you may think differently.

Looks expensive to me too. Just what Vail needs another expensive restaurant.

We had a couple private dinners at the Sonnenalp Resort. Actually as well our daughters wedding last year. They have several private rooms, superb serive and food by one of the best Chef in the Valley - very easy to work with in terms of pricing and arranging things. Ask for the Stuberl room at Ludwigs Restaurant - in one word spectacular

Elways in Vail is expensive, if you consider $60 for a steak with no accompaniments expensive. We went to the opening extravaganza party where the drinks were flowing and the food excellent. The tidbits that were passed were very good. The two buffet tables of meats and vegetables were delicious--the tenderloin was soft butter tender. The buffet of shellfish was, to say the least, extravagent. The buffet of salads was also very good. We also gorged on the dessert buffet. The place was packed solid (you know, free food) so it was very hard to get a handle on how the space would work as a restaurant (we used to love Wildflower which was the restaurant space that Elways took over). Everyone who was anyone (and everyone else too) was there (including John Elway). We happened to get a high bar table in the bar of Cucina Rustica, the adjoining restaurant (that was also used for the event), and had a ring-side table to see and be seen. It was a blast as well as a foodie event.
