There was a little smoke in the air today, but not much. We were hiking on the mountain and walking around town without any air quality issues. Come and enjoy, the weather is dry but warm and sunny.

Depends on which way the wind is blowing. It's a bit hazy this a.m. but clears in the day & by by afternoon is usually clear & the sunsets are amazing. Something about just a bit of smoke in the atmoshere turns the skys red at sunset. The big fire (High Park) on the front range is over 100 miles away, In Colorado Springs; 3 hours away etc.

Come & enjoy!!> Its a beautiful time of year to be here with all of the fabulous events & the wildflowers right now are gorgeous!!

I have the same question since we are going in a few weeks. We are flying into Denver and driving to Vail. Will there be an issue with that drive....smoke on the way?

At this time there are no fires between Denver and Vail. It is impossible to know what the next few weeks will bring.

I'm representing the Colorado Tourism Office, and we've created an online travel resource for tourism-related fire updates at colorado.com/articles/colorado-wildfire-upda… The webpage will provide regular updates on tourism-related attractions and destinations in close proximity to the fires.

Denver International Airport has not experienced any flight cancellations or issues impacting visibility or airport operations. The active fires represent less than 1 percent of the state’s public lands. Vail is not affected by the active wildfires.
