Scenic roads to take?

We are staying in Vail and we are looking for scenic roads to take in a sedan. We will be taking Independence Pass and probably Kebler Pass. Any other thoughts of others roads to take? Unfortunately it can't be a 4 wheel drive road.

Will you be driving a rental car or your own vehicle?

Shrine Pass can be driven by car depending on road conditions. I have not been up there yet this summer so I do not know what conditions are like. I would definitely check with the Eagle-Holy Cross Ranger District of the Forest Service before you attempt the drive.

Personally, I love the drive west on I-70 through Glenwood Canyon then stop in Glenwood for a great lunch at Juicy Lucy's then go up to the Caverns, then end up in the hot springs pool or vapor caves. I know its not just a scenic drive, but you can be there in an hour> something fun to do for a day combining the pretty views of the Colorado River as it cuts through Glenwood Canyon.

I also like the drive south of Leadville toward Buena Vista.

And the Trough Road:Take Hwy 133 at Wolcott to State Bridge wthen Colorado 9 to south of Kremmling, County Route 1 follows the Colorado River and railroad through the Gore Range. The county route begins in Eagle County and travels northeast into Grand County. Most of the route is unpaved but solid or partially paved. Signage is very limited. The entire route is designated a Colorado Scenic Backway
