Parking

Hi,

We are staying at Silverthorne and skiing at Vail Jan 2nd to Jan 5th. Any recommendations where to park for free or nominal amount?

What are crowd levels like just after New Year. My last trip to Vail was 1989 , am really excited about going back, has it changed loads?

Thanks everyone

Crowds levels will be manageable. Vail ski area is huge. Parking is another matter. Free? Maybe away from the area and you're willing to take a shuttle but spend the $$ -- cheaper than Chicago for the day-- and stay in either Vail Village or Lionshead parking structure. More info here:

Yes, it's around $25 for the day but well worth it. Parking in either the Vail Village or Lionshead structure puts you minutes from the lifts and convenient access from I-70.

Yes, it's change a lot since you were there in 1989. Significantly upgraded lifts. The main mountain is pretty similar but extensive expansion in the bowls.

Have fun.

We find it very easy to park for free at the golf course/cross country ski area. The shuttle to Golden Peak gets us to the lift quickly.
