Can you buy a few basic groceries anywhere in Vail Village?

We will not have a car and although I know we can get the shuttle to City Market I can't seem to find out if there is anywhere that we can just get milk, bread etc. I've read the Market Place on Meadow Drive, mentioned on some websites is closed.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I tried calling, number wasn't working and the web site is down. Appears you'll have to take the shuttle to the grocery stores. To do this, take the village shuttle to the main transportation area, to to the 3rd level (top floor) and take the Red Bus to the Safeway shopping center at exit 173. The bus will drop you off in front of the shopping center, called 'The Mall." Scroll down to see pictures.

When you return, go behind the Holiday Inn, and catch the Green bus back to Vail Village.

If you really wanted to save money, you could stay at the Holiday Inn for one night, get your groceries, drink water, get acclimated to the higher altitude, then move to the fancy hotel in the village.

I am not sure if this is always true... but it seems that the CME Vans stop in route to Vail from Denver Airport at the Dupont exit off the interstate There is a convenience store at the petrol station that would have some basics.

Maybe someone that has taken the shuttle recently could provide more accurate information. Providing you are taking that shuttle service..... sorry not to be more help!

The Vail Safeway also does home delivery if your purchase is over $49 - you order online. https://shop.safeway.com/ecom/home?brandid=1 gives you promo code for free delivery.

Forgot to mention that City Market (a division of Kroger in case you have a money saving loyalty card) in Vail also delivers. https:/…storefront

Thanks everyone. Very helpful. We are taking the CME shuttle from Denver and we do have a City Market card. I will also check out the home delivery and compare prices.

We aren't staying in Vail village, we have a couple days out at Big Horn Rd, so that would be two shuttles :-( ..... and then we are in Lionshead.

In that case, I wouldn't worry too much. If you have the van to yourself, you could ask the driver if they would make a grocery store stop if you tip them. The City Market is located at exit 173 on the north side of the highway. There's also a City Market at exit 205 in Silverthorne, which has Dilon Ridge liquors next to it. You basically hit the jackpot here, and it's the half way point when traveling from Denver. Grocery, Liquor, ski shop (Virgin Island) at one exit.

If staying in Lionshead, you would take the in town shuttle over to Vail Village, go to the 4th floor of the bus terminal, and catch the Red bus to the Mall and City Market Then you'd want to walk to the back of the Holiday Inn and catch the green bus back to Vail Village.

Are you using 81657? It worked for me. 81658 is the zip code for the P. O. Boxes.

The Safeway zipcode didn't work for me either, says it's outside of the delivery area. The Kroger one works though.

Yep, it turns out the Safeway in Vail doesn't offer home delivery. What a shame. Glad Kroger (City Mkt.) does. http://local.safeway.com/co/vail-631.html
