What lift? What time of day? What day of the week? Vail is the most crowded of the Summit County resorts but there's no telling how long the line will be on the lift you want to get on.

My 2 cents on crowds at Vail is to avoid holidays --Xmas/NY, MLK, Pres wkd -- and weekends. Mon-Fri is the way to go IMO. Get to the lifts at opening and eat lunch before the rush -- 11 to 11:30.

If you do it right, you can ski the busiest day of the year, and virtually avoid standing in lift lines. But, as a previous poster said, it completely depends on which lifts and what times. If you are skiing around in the Mid-Vail area between 10-12, expect to stand in a line.

With the new 6-person detachable lift #4, even if the entire line area is full, it's only a 6-minute wait (according to somebody we had lunch with).
