Unique hotels that won't break the bank

Looking for a unique hotel within reasonable driving distance to the convention center. Walking would be great too. When I say unique, I mean not your standard hotel, but a quality, independent establishment that is very comfortable.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hartford can be a tricky place to stay. I would stick with larger chains, along I-91.

I don't think you'll find exactly what you're after. marriott.com/hotels/… is as close as I can come. Its in the heart of downtown with lots of restaurants within walking distance

If you will do a B&B look at http://www.silaswrobbins.com/ or http://www.chesterbulkleyhouse.com/ both 10 min. to the convention center.

If you;re wiling to drive 20-25 min. http://www.simsburyinn.com/

I've been to Pittsburg---

Hartford isn't Pittsburg in any stretch of imagination.

Lots of stuff in the City.....

But no Boutique Hotels like the ones near the walkover bridge for the stadiums.

If you want the real city experience --downtown and all the places to eat see---stay in a good hotel there.

If you want a country or B & B like experience than you need to go to the suburban areas.

You just won't find what your looking for ...very difficult.

Avon Old farms hotel is west of Hartford about 20 minutes away. It has a newish farm to table restaurant attached.

In Hartford there are only chain hotels if you want to be able to walk around.

Hartford used to have the Goodwin Hotel downtown, it's still sitting there empty. That was a nice place and what you were looking for.

In Simsbury you have the Simsbury Inn or 1820 House, both are pretty nice. They are about a 15 - 25 minute drive to downtown

Hartford depending on traffic. Those may meet your needs.

Here is the link to the Simsbury Inn
