Founder's Bridge in Hartford for photography?

I'll be passing through on a Tuesday afternoon, and would like to take some photos of the city's skyline from Founder's Bridge. I was looking at google for closest parking on the east side of the river. I see lots, but not sure if they are available? I have a large conversion van with extended top, so I need non-covered lot. Suggestions? And if I arrive after dark for night photos, is that bridge area relatively safe?

Safe enough even at night. You should be able to park on the street- East River Drive near the intersection of Pitkin St. Many downtown workers park here and walk across the bridge to downtown but by afternoon I think you will find a spot. If not you can probably get away with parking in the large lot for the Hartford Plaza Hotel.
