Which beach do we choose for our upcoming Mystic Trip?

We are travelling to Mystic in August and were wondering what the best beach in the area would be? We are a group with 7 children ages 7-13. We are looking for a clean, family oriented beach. Any information would be helpful - thanks!

I would head to Rhode Island. Dunes/ Weekapaug, or Misquamicut/Westerly.

About 30 minutes from Mystic; family friendly, clean, and nice.

If you're coming to our Westerly beaches, a word of advise: Rt. 78 can get backed up early in the morning on a good beach day, particularly on the weekends (not so much on a weekday). If you use Rt. 78 (Westerly Bypass), just time it right. Have a great vacation.

my perferd beach would be Bluff Point SP rated one of the best beaches in the country by Natgeo and the nature conservence but this realy is not a swimming beach no life guards etc. stractly for beach lovers. next pick would be Rocky Neck SP. much cleaner and warmer than the RI beachs but small and no surf ever. 3rd wold be the south country RI beachs very nice over all but nothing special but you have real ocean surf a big plus for teens

I didn't know that. I thought that rocky point was on polluted long island sound. It is warmer tho, to the point where lobsters will not be able to survive if the water temp raises 1 degree. how many nuclear reactors cool the nice warm water?

Really?????? Nothing special???? I would suggest any who have doubts on whether RI has exceptional beaches read the article on South County

beaches in this months Yankee mag.

If your looking to stay in CT, Ocean Beach isn't a bad option for the family. It's a nice beach with a boardwalk, mini golf, an arcade, etc. Misquamicut is a great beach too but the current is really strong and the waves can be powerful so just make sure all the kids understand they need to be careful. Have a GREAT trip!
