Believe it or not, if you are a good walker, you can actually walk to it from the north end of Clearwater Beach. It used to be a separate island but a storm some years ago filled in the cut, connecting it to Clearwater Beach.

My husband and I loved the walk, but then, we run so the 6 mile round trip it is to the far northern tip of Caladesi wasn't an issue. You can get to the same deserted beaches in far less time than that...less than an hour walking north from around were the Palm Pavilion is in CWB. You'll pass the sign indicating you are on Caladesi...don't need to go all the way up as the scenery doesn't' really change. It's just you, the beach, the Gulf, the dunes and a few other walkers. No houses, no hotels, no shops. It's beautiful.

Otherwise...dirve up US 19 (awful highway...traffic lights galore and slow going) then follow signs to Honeymoon Island. There's a ferry for Caladesi on that end which takes you to the northern end of Caladesi. It's just a short hop away. If you are staying on the north end of CWB you can almost walk to the southern part of it as quickly as you drive it!!

hwy 19 (runs north and south and is west of 275)

turn off 19 and go west on CURLEW

go over the water to honeymoon island ($5.00 park fee)

take the ferry to Caladisi Island ($ 9.00 / person)

worth the trip

very quiet and beautiful

2 beach chairs + 1 umbrella rental $10.00

kayak rental (1 hour) $20.00
