Help planning trip..ty

Hello all,

I need some help planning a trip to Clearwater. First off let me tell you a little about what I am looking for. This trip will consist of myself, DH, and five year old son, traveling end of Jan-Feb. We will have three weeks to travel. We are looking at staying in Disney World for two weeks and at Clearwater area for one week. While visiting Clearwater we will go to Busch Gardens a few times. Other then that not sure what else to do. One of my questions, is there enough to do for one week at Clearwater ? We have never been to the beach and would really love to stay at Clearwater, just not sure if we will get board.

While staying at Clearwater we would love to stay on the beach, something with a balcony and a kitchen would be nice, price is not a factor, so if you could please give me some suggestions on where to stay, this would be great.

Thanks to all of you!

Sounds like the Sandpearl Resort would be great. It is directly on the main beach. The Hilton would also be good, as it is also directly on the beach, but the beach near the Hilton is usually a little more crowded than near the Sandpearl, so it may be better for keeping your eye on the young one playing on the beach.

It is a very active beach that I'm sure you will find plenty to do for a week. There are dolphin sighting cruises, sightseeing cruises. Kids love Captain Memo's pirate ship cruise.

Plenty of fun, casual restaurants. Shops, the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, ice cream, the nightly sunset celebration, putt-putt golf etc.

From Clearwater Beach to Busch Gardens is about an hour drive. Hitting Tampa at rush hour could add a few minutes as traffic can get heavy then.

Thank you so much for takeing the time to give me all of that great information. One more question, do you think that I may be chooseing the wrong time to visit? Would we still be able to swim, and go to the beach. I know weather changes from year to year, but in the past years would the weather be ok to do all of the things in Jan-Feb?

Thank you

That is a busier time, and rates will be at their highest. Water temps will be 60-65º or so. You won't find any locals in the water, but folks used to colder climates do swim then.

Air temps, It depends much on when cold fronts come though. When a front comes through, daytime highs can be in the upper 50's or low 60's for a few days, then get back up to the 70's for a few days, then another front will come through, and on and on. It's just hit or miss with the cold fronts. All attractions and restaurants etc stay open throughout the year.
