which hotel would be the best for us?!

Can anyone offer suggestions on a hotel that is very close (walking distance!! ) to Shepards and Pier 60? We would also have to be directly on the main beach!! We saw the HIlton beach resort that was a bit pricey but can anyone suggest another hotel close to both places? We want to be in a great beach location that is walking distance to all restaurants/bars and fun atmosphere!! Is there any "hotel location map" that shows each hotel on the beach? Thank you so much in advance!

Google Earth lists the location of many of the hotels. Check 'Hotels' under the 'Places Of Interest.' A very handy tool!

The closest to both that is directly on the main beach, is the Hilton. The only other that is directly on the main beach is the Sandpearl Resort, but it is more expensive, and is farther away from Pier 60 and Shephards than is the Hilton.

Between the pier, and Shephards is a Holiday Inn. It is on the water, but not the beach. It will be only a few minute walk to the beach, or Shephards.

In the same area are a Red Roof Inn, and a Travelodge. These face the main beach, but are accross the street from it. Again, just a couple minute walk to the beach. Out of those (other than the Hilton) I think the Holiday Inn will be the nicest. It has a restaurant and bar onsite with outdoor seating overlooking the water, and has had more recent updates/renovations.

Walk to a good variety of restaurants, bars, and shops from all of these.

Excelent info Mark.

We ( 3 middle age brothers with sons) are planning a trip for mid-March to Clearwater beach, to go to spring training games in town. We were concerned about the area being too much of a spring break place. We are looking into Travelodge and others in that area. Some have said it is not a big spring break place anymore. We have gone to Fort Myers same

mid-March time( stayed inland) . The beach was packed and hotels even close balconies! Will we face that in clearwater?

I really doubt it. Clearwater is not the big Spring Break draw that it used to be years ago. Of course, there will be some Spring Breakers here, but you should not see it over-run, or hotels closing balconies. I have never heard of that here.

Be aware that Shephards Resort is usually the place Spring Breakers will hang out (of course the beach too). They have a very active pool/beach/tiki bar scene there with parties, live music till late, a nightclub etc, that is popular with the younger partiers. Locals will boat, and jetski up to Shephards to enjoy the party. So if that is something you are trying to stay away from, you may not want to stay there.

But in general, while it can be a busy time, it is not over-run with spring breakers like some other FL citys.
