Beach wedding and family fun

Hi, we are traveling to FL in October, we rented a house on the beach in Indian Rocks Beach. We are traveling with our two children (7 & 8) and my mother.

We are planning a wedding on the beach and wondering which beaches in the area are the best for ceremonies? It'll just be the 5 of us. Also, we are looking for some ideas for entertainment after the wedding. We thought about the dinner cruise out of Clearwater Beach, but the reviews are not that great.

Is there anything else in the area that can provide us with fun after our ceremony with our family? We are willing to travel up to an hour for both the ceremony and evening of fun!

Thanks!

If the kids know about Winter the dolphin in the movie Winter Tale they can see that very dolphin at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.

Then there's the Great Explorations museum in nearby Largo where kids love to play with the exhibits. I enjoyed it as an adult but I like to see how stuff works.

Over in Tampa there is the Florida Aquarium, Lowry Park Zoo, and Busch Gardens - all between 30 and 45 mins. from IRB.

Check out Saint Pete Beach for your wedding. It's a bit quieter than Clearwater Beach.

For a nice place to stroll, check out Fort Desoto nature park after the wedding. Also, the Don Cesar would be a great place for photos !

Thanks for the suggestions, we are going to check out SPB for the wedding!

We are looking more for something to do immediately after the ceremony... we have ideas for the week while we are there but need a way to celebrate our special day with our kids. Perhaps something a little more low key and we can eat and be merry and celebrate our family?

Also, the night after we plan to go out alone and are open to any romantic dinner locations. Anyone do a private dinner on the beach or a very romantic restaurant (not Italian). Thanks for your help!

Thre is also a more casual cruise from the same marina as the dinner cruise on Clearwater Beach. Calypso Queen.

Also, kids love the Capt Memo's pirate cruise, and they have adult drinks during the cruise for mom and dad

At the Sunset celebration on Pier 60, they have kid friendly movies on a huge screen in the park at the foot of the pier. Think the movies are only weekends though, but the sunset celebration is every night. Street performers, local artsy vendors, face-painting for kids, etc. Sometimes they will also have fireworks.

Sand Key Park is immediately south of Clearwater Beach, just over a bridge. Many will hold weddings there as it is much less crowded than the main beach.

For the night after when it's just the bride and groom: Not aware of any private dinners directly on the beach. I have not been to it, but have heard that the Sandpearl Resort has some more intimate/private dinner seating, outdoors along its beachfront.

If in St. Pete Beach, look into the Don CeSar Hotel for dinner.
