Not sure why you are posting on the Cocoa Beach forum for info on theme parks which are located in Orlando. Its my understanding the DisneyWorld is larger than Disneyland. I would also look at Sea World as its a grea park too. Try posting on the Orlando and Disney forums for more info and answers.
You would get a greater variety of opinions on the WDW or Orlando forums. However, since you're here, and because Cocoa Beach is so close to Disney, I'll comment, as we were just in three of the four parks three weeks ago.
Magic Kingdom is a bigger version of Disneyland, with many of the same rides, so if you have a limited number of days, you might want to try something new. For a ten y.o., I would say that Animal Kingdom would be the best alternative. You might want to look at one of the websites like http://www.allears.net to see the attractions at the various parks and compare to Disneyland.
Hollywood Studios has some thrill rides like Tower of Terror, but would appeal more to older kids. I feel it has the smallest number of interesting attractions. EPCOT has two sections. World Showcase is mostly shops and restaurants with a few very tame rides thrown in. Future World has a couple of great rides, Soaring and Test Track, plus a few others.
WDW does not have a park similar to California Adventure. The closest to that would be Universal Studios Florida -- a bigger version of the one in LA, with many more attractions in its two Florida parks. It is more geared toward thrill rides. Of all the parks, Sea World is the most similar to its California cousin, IMO.
Universal Studios and Sea World are under an hour's drive from Cocoa Beach via the Beachline Expressway. WDW is slightly longer, depending on which park you are going to.
