Looking for a one night stay

We are staying in central Florida and wanting to drive the one hr drive to DB to stay one night on 2/22. We plan to drive over early to spend the whole day on the beach and want someplace clean, not too expensive, and not in a bad part of DB to rest our heads for one night. Being in walking distance to a nice resturant and/or bar would be a big plus for us. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Best Western Aku Tiki Inn........ the great beach, beautiful grounds and pool, ocean front or ocean view rooms, attached Traders restaurant has great food, really great hot wings, and unless they have stopped it, a free manager's happy hour each evening at Traders. This includes free well mixed drinks, beer and wine. The tiki theme starts with the huge tike head out front, continues throughout the hotel, but not over done. The Koi pond as you enter Traders is a nice touch. Have fun.

The Hilton has been running some great deals. The 22nd is after the speedweek peak so bet you can get a hotel for 100.00. They are located right next to the broadwalk and the shops and beach. Clean, safe and in the middle of everything.

I like the idea of being close to the Boardwalk but the Hilton is running $148... we were hoping for something less than $100.

If you don't want an oceanfront, other motels in that same area should have some oceanviews for less than 100 this time of year. Click on the DB Hotels to the left here, look at some motels/condos sites. The address and rates will be listed on their websites. Most have toll free numbers and email addresses you can inquire about distance to Main street (the Hilton is close to Main) and rates.

Walking distance to restaurants/bars can be problematic. In general, there's more of them toward the north--Ormond Beach.

DB has worked hard to make its boardwalk area more attractive. Thus, the recently-enlarged Ocean Center, the massive Hilton, etc. Not so long ago, this wasn't a nice area.

Trip Advisor's list of popular hotels is pretty well-informed. The #1 Bahama House is indeed a nice place (based on a visit two years ago).

Do shop around for room rates. They can be quirky. The Mayan Inn (conveniently close to Peabody Auditorium) has a special low rate for United Airlines frequent fliers (of all things) posted at its own website (it's part of a local hotel chain), but UAL's own hotel reservation search posts a far higher rate....

I personally like Daytona Beach Shores, where the traffic is light compared to central Daytona Beach.

I've stayed at the Plaza Ocean Club before and it is ok. It is a bit tired but close to where we always party. I suppose I always pick something that is closer to Seabreeze so we can park and walk to clubs and restaurants. I would call some of these hotels direct and you might get a better deal. Business is hurting. I always ask for a AAA rate or the goverment/military rate.

Try Daytona Inn - Boardwalk Suites or Fountain Beach -- La Quinta they are all right there. All probably less than $100

Walk to Ocean Deck for dinner from any location listed above.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I am going to check them out. Getting closer to our trip so we want to make some reservations soon. We are still digging out of the ice storm here is Southern Indiana. My power back on last night finally.

Check those suggested above on expedia for reviews as well as the reviews on TA. Add Plaza Ocean Club as a place to look at the rates. They have under 100.00 rates on the travel sites. Then call the hotel if you find a deal and see if they will match it booking directly with the hotel.

Glad to hear you have power back. I have relatives in Kentucky and they were hit pretty hard with the nasty weather. You'll need this vacation!
