I live in Port Orange and try to stay away from Daytona Beach. As a local to the area you are much better to head south on A1A a couple miles and get out of the whole tourist area.

There is a lot more space on the beach, easy free parking and oh yeah no cars on the beach :)

1. Re: Beachs

I guess everyone has their opinion of the Florida beaches, ours is, that the Daytona Beach area is the best in Florida and there is more to do there than any other beach. We feel that the beach is nicer, the cars on the beach most days are almost not noticeable, and the touristy things make it all the more enjoyable. That is one reason we vacation, to enjoy touristy things we wouldn't do at home. We have done Cocoa, New Smyrna, Clearwater, Treasure Island, and now we only do Daytona. If you don't like the area, why in the world would you live there?

I love Daytona and Ormond Beach - and I love New Smyrna too.
