Daytona Beah Second Week of April

Planning a quick trip second week of April. Will fly in. Looking at the Shores Resort and Spa. It lists an airport shuttle. Since we've never been to Daytona Beach, not sure if we'll need a car rental. This is a relaxation trip. We're not shoppers but would enjoy seeing the area.

Any suggestions for restuarants and what to do in the area?

Thanks

There is a public bus and trolley service that runs up and down the beach from 7am - 11pm (limited on Sundays and holidays) which will take you to most of the interesting destinations in the area. You can buy a 24-hour pass when boarding the bus for $3.

Its called VOTRAN, which is the county bus service. You can check their web site which lists a bus map and schedule.

Otherwise, there are a number of taxi services around town which will be happy to give you a ride for a fee.

It's been several years since I've visited the Shores Resort (that was for a conference). The pool area was quite nice, with a real resort feeling.

Much of the shopping is on International Speedway Blvd on the mainland. There's some restaurants along A1A toward Ormond Beach (north of central Daytona Beach). Also, near the Ormond Beach border about 2500 N. A1A, a Beall's store (economy-minded Florida clothing and kitchen; largest seller of Guy Harvey fish tee shirts). A Publix supermarket is about 5000 feet south of the hotel.
