I'm walking around visiting with various shopkeepers and employees about their favorite restaurant and I keep hearing Dewey Destin which is next door. Maybe I need to try Dewey Destins.

A lot of people like Dewey Destin, but we had our worst meal ever in Destin there. Fish did not seem fresh. So maybe that was unusual, don't know. Also, our table overlooked the trash bin on the outside of the restaurant, where they were taking the dirty plates and scraping them off into the bin. It made the ambiance non-existent. We won't go back.

Gross for Deweys . We used to love it but the last time we had all fries and very little seafood. Guess they didn't get the memo about how places can close down quickly if customer service is lacking.

As a local, we made the rounds in our favorite restaurants before all the visitors started heading this way last weekend, and we hit Dewey's (old location) twice!!! One time I got the grilled tuna and the other grilled Scallops... Both were Excellent!!! In my opinion, the key is not getting the fried plates...

LaFamigilia is probably the best in Harborwalk Village, but Pepitos is good as well!

Dewey's has fresh seafood, but can be hit and miss.

A lot of comments on another recent thread here.

And. like just mentioned, be careful about how you order your food to be prepared.

Like the fried fresh gulf shrimp, but the fried fish was just awful.

IMHO, they ruined DH's expensive fresh grilled fish by putting cheap sweet terriyaki on it.

I have wanted to try La Famiglia. And I see it mentioned here.

But I am seeing so-so reviews, an sky high prices.

Mabye this Harbor location is more of a tourist rip.

Don't you just hate when a place builds up into a tourist hot spot, and this happens.

Still wish I know where to go to get really good Italian at Destin on our next visit.

Drinkhandtoes, What dishes have you enjoyed at Famiglia on the Harbor?

Or, should we try the original location.

Lots of so-so and bad reviews here on TA now.

I have seen people post that they think the food at the original Dewey's might be better.

I am also really liking what I am seeing of the Cantina.

You wanta Italiano?

LaFamiglia is the place. I have not been to the new locale on the harbor yet. However, I plan on dining at the original Sat nite and have already made my ressie. You have to go in relaxed and ready to groove at their pace. Get a bottle of wine. The service staff will pace with the kitchen production- they go from empty to slammed in a matter of minutes around 5:30-6:00.

They fill up early but seem to slow down after 8:00.

I love the stuffed veal chop, the risotta, the lobster gnocci, the lasa, the calamari, the meatballs- get traditional Italian items and you will be rewarded. Many specials.
