we are staying in the rotunda area, & will more than likly be purchasing clothes, bags, shoes etc ...

ive heard about an Mall in Ellenton (Prime outlets) & plan a day up there ..

most of our time will be spent at the beaches, but im trying to pursuade the rest of the family to a day or two hitting the malls

try the Port Charlotte Town Center Mall first, only 15 mins max away. Don't forget to go to Customer services forst at MAcy's or Dillards or register for your visitor's discount card for 11% off. Bring you UK DL or passport.

I find I get better deals doing that than the outlet malls.

Also, try the Target and walmart across the road for cheap basics and electronics, cds, dvds etc. There is another walmart on Smcall 776 in Englewood too.

You may want to take a walk down Dearborn Street. It is like the 'Main' street for Englewood. There are lots of little specialty shops, it becoming almost like an 'Artist's area'. You can also take a visit to Fisherman's Village. It is another collection of shops with a covered roof. At the end of the 'pier' there is a nice open air restaurant called Harpoon Harry's. There are several others along the walk. You can also hire a sunset cruise from here.

And welcome to the Englewood site! I agree with everything that Amanx and Old Englewood have said, but if you want some advise from an expert shopper of clothes, handbags, shoes etc etc, then PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't waste your time going to Ellenton Outlets. This outlet used to be good, but over the past year or so we have seen it go down hill! The best outlet near Rotunda is Miromar at Exit 123 past Fort Myers - it is definitely one of the best! Also consider Gulf Town Shoppes at Exit 128 (before the one for Miromar). You could combine both in one day and have a mega shop.

As for Malls, I find Port Charlotte Mall as good as any, but if you want the likes of MAC makeup and Origins, then I would consider going to Edison Sq Mall at Fort Myers or Bell Tower Shops (again Fort Myers). Edison Sq Mall is a HUGE mall with all the usual department stores plus the designers names also. It can be found on US 41 about 35/40 mins drive from Rotunda.

You will be spoilt for choice .......... so do enjoy!

Another great shopping place I have heard of is 'Coconut Point' (or something like that). It is a little drive to Estero / Naples area, but you can make a day of it.

I second the Miromar Outlet Shopping Village, south of Fort Myers, we went there recently and did buy quite a bit. It is really easy to reach but I would say it took us an hour and a half to get there from Rotonda, I think the Ellenton Shopping Village is slightly closer, I have not been there so cannot comment on the shops but we did drive past it on our way back to the Airport and I clocked how long it took us and it was just over an hour. Port Charlotte has a few big department stores but we find them a little old fashioned, but it all depends on what you are looking for. We still go every time we visit though.

The best place for shopping still has to be Orlando so if you are visiting Orlando whilst you are in Florida then I would just stick to the shops there as you won't get any better in the near vicinity to Rotonda/Englewood.

I hope you love the Englewood area as much as I do, it is a beautiful place, very relaxed with the best beaches and very friendly people. Don't hesitate to shout if you need any more info.
