Compare Englewood/Manasota to Sanibel?

We have stayed on Sanibel for a month the past 2 years. Love the atmosphere, nature, and safe biking trails (don't even use the car on a daily basis). Looking for something similar that is a little less expensive and with more rental flexibility. Wondering about the Englewood/Manasota beach area. Probably need a house, something that will accommodate 10 for 1 week of the period (kids can use sleeping bags so 10 beds not necessary). Also wondering about bike paths and safety since the biking is a major activity for whole family. Don't want to use a car to get to beach; walking distance preferred. Also, a pool would be nice but not essential if right on beach.

Thanks in advance your help.

While biking is possible there, there aren't always bike paths so bikes would share the roads with cars. There are 4 beach areas along the Island. It is a lot cheaper than Sainibel, but a house there on the island won't come cheap.

Another way to go is Gasparilla Island. Lots get around here by bike, but many use golf carts instead. There is a path seperate from the main road here. But again, pricy like Sanibel. Check out both areas.
