Hotel help please!

My husband and I need a hotel for 5 nights in mid-January. We will not have a car. Would like a hotel with a full balcony overlooking the intracoastal but also be able to walk to the beach, bars, shops and restaurants. Also the best public transportation to take to Seminole Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood. I would like a hotel for $300 or less. Thanks!

Check out the Doubletree Gallery One.You should be able to get a 1 BR suite there for about $250/nt. Make sure to request an intracoastal view room with a full balcony. Some of the balconies are stand out only. You will be a 5 min walk from the beach, and next door to the Galleria Mall which has some great dining options. The water taxi stop is right there that can bring you to the beach area or to Las Olas where there are many restaurants and shops.I have no idea about getting to Seminole on public transit.

The Doubletree Gallery One is a lovely hotel we stayed there 3 years ago in a city view room and paid around $250 a night at easter. I'm wondering if the rooms with a view over the intracoastal experience any noise from the bridge. It was established in a thread not long ago that getting to the Seminole Hard Rock Casino isn't feasible by public transport you will need to take a cab.

$300 will def get you a room, even in season, like it still will be when you arrive. Honestly? I would recommend you going to price line and seeing what you can get. A couple months ago I had friends get something at the W on Fort Lauderdale beach for about $200 with a view of the ocean. The Double Tree is nice, as is the W, Trump Hotel, Bahia Cabana... really your choices are endless.

In terms of public transportation to the Hard Rock? Basically your choice is taxi or a taxi. :) You might get lucky where your hotel has some sort of service that drops guests off at the Hard Rock, but thats a case-by-case situation.

Venis3 - the Trump isn't open...... there's a fence around the property - which is a shame as the hotel (95% finished) is awesome! I do hope someone steps up to the plate and finishes it. What a great addition to the Fort Lauderdale scene!

I think I'd really check out the Gallery One. The hotel is great and I love the fact that you can have a "suite on the Intracoastal". If you check it out on line and don't get the rate you want, call the hotel directly and work a little magic....the hotels will make evey effort to accommodate your request.

Oh - Venis3, the Bahia Cabana is a great place to go for a fish sandwich. I wouldn't, EVER, recommend (even my worst enemy) that anyone actually stay at that hotel....

Think of it as a place to "grab a bite" only.......

Mags26 - if you don't want to stay "where the action is", you should check out the Homewood Suites, Fairfield Hotel, and Hyatt Place near the airport. All of these properties will have transportation to/from Seminole Hard Rock.
