A nice Hotel, Inexpensive but clean/safe

We're flying into FLL and have 24 hrs to play and do whatever before our cruise the next day. We thought it'd be fun to stay in a nice hotel, that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Also, do the hotels offer a shuttle service to Miami Port? We were hoping to not have to rent a car, therefore, is it possible to get cheap transportation from FLL to a hotel, then cheap transportation again the next day to the Port?

Thanks

Few if any hotels will offer shuttle service to the Port of Miami. Your dates of travel will determine the answer to the rest of your questions.

Port of Miami is about an $80 taxi ride (30 + miles) from here , so no hotel offers it for free thyat I know of except that there is a paid bus service from one hotel out on a highway far from anything to do and doing it to get customers for their shabby rooms. I think you need to book a hotel and then a separate paid shuttle/transport to MIA. As Objets has said above , the hotel choice would depend on the dates of your trip- rates at hotels here vary greatly depending on how many ships are in Port at once and whether there are any conventions at the same time- as the Convention Center is at the Port entrance. That is the area that has the most to do , is near he beach and tourist services and is the preferred place to stay here.

If there are two or more people in your party , the best plan may be a shared taxi as most shuttle services to the Miami Port would charge per person , but a taxi fare is shared among the occupants.

If you give us the dates you need the room, we can give you some hotel ideas .It also may be a better idea to take transportation to Miami directly from FLL Airport on arrival and stay there near the port to start with and do your precruise stay there rather than paying one transportation fare on arrival and then another to Miami the next day...

I agree with Lulutoo

It may be better if you stay in a Miami hotel rather than a FLL hotel. There are plenty of hotels in Miami that provide transportation to the port of Miami. I'm not aware of a FLL hotel that does. Better to only pay for transportation once than twice. Holiday Inn downtown Miami (Biscayne Blvd), Days Inn at Miami aiport does transportation to and from the Miami airport and port of Miami. Port of Miami Hotel on Biscayne. Lots of hotels on N. Bayshore Dr, Biscayne Blvd and Brickell Ave that have shuttles to the Port of Miami. Good luck

If you just HAVE to stay in Ft Lauderdale, check out Hilton Garden Inn Ft. Lauderdale Airport-Cruise Port, Comfort Inn, Ramada Inn Airport/Cruise port for Port of Miami packages and shuttle service.

The hotels listed above may transport you to Miami, but they are not near Ft. Lauderdale Beach or any of the things most tourists like to do here. You would need to get a taxi to do anything on beach- I think it's about a$20 taxi ride one way to the beach area or Las Olas Blvd or other popular spots for visitors. They are all out on highways west of town near I-95 interstate exits
