Good beach bar/restaurant to relax and celebrate a birthday?

Headed down in a few weeks to the Hard Rock to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday. We plan on taking a day/evening and hopping a cab over to the beach to relax and would love to find a great beach bar to hang out and have some drinks! Any suggestions??

S3 is a happening place! It's at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel and S3 stands for Sun, Surf, Sand/Steak, Seafood, Sushi

The food is awesome and the ambience is great!

If you want a terrific restaurant without the bar scene, try Casablanca Café - another favorite of mine! I was just there over the weekend and the food never disappoints..

For a very informal "locals" place, Bahia Cabana is a good place to sit and watch the sunset - their rum runners are goooood.

Yeah, Bahia Cabana is real locals place, but you have to understand it is not fancy, at all. However, it is right on the water at Bahia Mar with all the yachts and fishing boats.

Casablanca is a really nice, more upscale place, across the beach from the beach.

Something in the middle is Aruba in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, right on the sand and next to the pier.

Check out each website, and that will give you an idea of how casual or dressy each is.

The only problem with all of them is that you are staying sooooooooo far away, and a taxi is going to be expensive. You are nowhere near the beach.
