October is a nice time to go, should be cooling down by then. Just hope we don't have another late hurricane like we did last year! We really shouldn't though, that was kind of a freak occurence, don't let my joking scare you.

Are you planning to stay on Ft. Myers Beach, then? There is plenty to do there, as long as you enjoy being at the beach and eating and drinking. There are quite a few eating and drinking establishments out there that are fun. I like eating at Cabasca's on Estero Blvd, right by the bridge. Good people watching, open air, and live music at night. There is also a movie theater on the island that serves hot food and alcoholic drinks, which I think is pretty neat.

To get from Ft. Myers Beach to Sanibel might take you 30 minutes in October. Perhaps longer just because the Sanibel Causeway is being worked on right now. Sanibel is about 30-40 minutes from most places in Ft. Myers, in off-season.

Stuff to do in Fort Myers mainland: Bell Tower Shops for shopping and restaurants. Cru, a restaurant at Bell Tower is to die for, but prettyt pricey. Hottest restaurant in town though. Edison Home, if you're into that. There are some nature walks if you want to see some wildlife. Anything you like to do in particular?

Silver Sands is a superior small lodge on Ft. Myers Beach. They are located across from the beach, next to The Beached Whale. They have a pool and are on the back bay. It is very clean - a mom & pop. They are in a great location, you can walk everywhere-great restaurants and bars, shopping, etc. Sanibel is a 15 minute ride with a $6.00 toll. Just before the toll is an outlet shopping mall. Downtown Ft. Myers has a Flea Market, and there is a mall in town. Going south would be airboat rides in the Everglades. We have a fast boat from the beach to Key West daily and a gambling cruise daily. Silver Sands is at the North end, near Time Square. We have white sugar sand beaches and live music everywhere. It is a quaint little fishing village. When you come over the skybridge onto the beach you will never forget that view from the top of the bridge.
