hutchinson island/jensen beach florida snorkeling

Are there any places to snorkel near hutchinson island/ jensen beach florida? And can you walk on the beach in the evening, or does the tide come in and cover the beach? Thanx, Judy

The tide doesn't cover the beach when in. It is the east coast and usually rough surf so not appropriate ever for snorkeling...IMHO!

Like l told you on your last post, you have Bathtub Reef, righ on Hutchinson Island, look it up on google. As far as night, the beach is great, my wife and l go down all the time and walk the beach, l have even been known to take a dip or two. The temp of the water is in the low 80s. Hubie

Is the water pretty clear? Is it similar to the water in the Palm Beach area? Thanks!

It can be very clear depending on how much water they are letting out of Lake Okeechobee, my guess is most of the time Palm Beach would be a better spot. Hubie

Bathtub Beach CAN offer great snorkeling often the water there is stirred up and vis is very low. Severe erosion has closed the parking area there. You can still park at the lot N of it and walk down. No lifeguards these days at Bathtub. As for the poster who says it is too rough to snorkel, that just is not true at all. Of course there can be rough water but more often than not you can snorkel and the water is just as clear as in palm beach county.

Yes Bathtub Beach is a Great place to snorkel, but low tide sometimes does not work, you will have to snorkel on the ocean side of the reef. Hubie

Bathtub Beach did finally reopen tho with "Mobile Rest Rooms" due to lack of sand area. There is a lifeguard there once again. So accessible to park and snorkel but nothing like the gorgeous beach it once had. Snorkeling near the Jupiter Inlet is very good in the newly redone "lagoon" there and also a bit South of there at Peanut Island.
