Restaurant Changes

I just drove past the Beech Street Grill on 8th street. There is a For Sale sign out front and the gentleman in the FB Tourist office said everyone was surprised. The place is closed. Too bad. It was a very nice place for a special night out.

Also, Genaro's Italian restaurant has moved from 2nd street to Sadler, where Shoney's used to be.

TT,

Yes, the owners of Beech Street decided to retire and the closure came with little warning. Likewise, Mario at Pompeo's on Centre Street in the historic district decided to retire after 25 years and Ciao's is supposed to be opening up there in a couple of weeks. Genarro's had actually moved from 2nd Street some time ago and opened in a shopping center on the southern part of the Island. They are opening their second location at the Sadler location. Joe's 2nd Street Bistro is also under new ownership. With more than 80 dining options on the Island, only natural to have some level of turnover going on all the time; but does seem to be a bit more than normal the last couple of months.
