Sunset Cruises - Recommendations Please

I'm sure this has been discussed many times in the past, but I couldn't find any recent postings.

My family and I will soon be in KW for the first time and we're so excited. This forum has been enjoyable to read and so informative!

I believe there are a number of sunset cruises to choose from, so I was hoping someone could recommend one. My two kids, ages 18 & 15 might be interested in the cruise as well.

Here are some web sites.

We are doing the Fury in May. I have only read good things about these.

Don't forget Danger!

[Full disclosure, I work there....]

Another choice is Floridays. They seems to be good, taking small groups and dedicated to customer service and the passenger's happiness such in a manner similar to our own. Those are my two picks.

BUT I say taking teenagers on a sunset sail is only so-so. Most teenagers I have met seem to be considerate and politely appreciative of the experience, but it seems clear there are better times to be had.

Take the teens snorkeling and kayaking.

We've heard the dinner cruise on The Liberty Clipper is great. We have not taken this cruise, but have sailed on the sister ship Liberty and it was a great time. A trip highlight, especially for sailors. My 12 year old son had a great time.

Have a blast...

The Liberty Clipper is a really nice ship. Their sunset sail is a dinner cruise, and it is expensive. I've also been told by people who took the dinner cruise that the food was lousy. I've taken an afternoon sail on the Clipper and it was a lot of fun. I've taken the sunset sail on the Liberty Schooner and it was very nice. The crew is friendly and it is very relaxing.

The Clipper is in KW only during the winter. The Schooner is docked at the Westin year around.

The Floridays is a good choice. It is a somewhat smaller, single-hulled sailing ship and you get a very good view of the north side of the island, Sunset Key and Fort Zach on the trip out. And they will generally let children man the helm of the ship once you clear the Bight. This is usually a memorable part of the trip.

Try to pick a day when the wind is strong. We were on the Sebago catamaran twice with friends and their teenaged sons, and the boys had a much better time when we were whipping along like a bat out of hell. I also like a monohull schooner much better than a cat. Danger charter's boats are pretty good, though the half-day snorkle/kayak/sunset might be better for the kids than their "wind and wine" sunset cruise. There is another schooner, the Appledorn (or is it the Appledore?) which the delightful Mrs. Gam and I have taken a few times.
