Dewey House

Coming to KW later part of sept. staying @ Dewey House 1st floor garden room. I'm ok with the location, but not sure about B&B type room. When we travel we stay 4-5 star. Most reviews are for SMOB nothing that I could find on DH. Please let me know if this is a good choice. Also, I have read that most restraunts close in sept. Is there a list that closes during this time? Thanks for any info.

We stayed at Dewey House about two years ago and loved it. We stayed on the second floor. The first floor might have more traffic due to breakfast and the sundeck. The beach is at your backyard! There is also a cafe/bar on the beach. You'll need to cross the street for the hot tub.It is more like a BB but we enjoyed it. Have fun!

Not most restaurants but some and only for a week or two. If you have your heart set on one, call first. Otherwise, there will still be plenty to choose from.

we stayed there a few years ago. absolutely wonderful on all accounts. the innkeepers were perfect and the room and view divine. we stayed at le Mer, but the two are closely approximated. a sad thing occurred while we were there, my husband suffered a heart attack and was taken to the local hospital and then flown to Miami. the staff was wonderful to me, i had no family nor friends there and they more than made up for that. they didn't make us pay for our reserved room, and when i realized i left without tipping the maid, they said they had taken care of it. we were very impressed even before our unfortunate happenstance. i still remember the hug i got from the young woman at the front desk as she escorted me out to the rental car that i needed to drive to Miami to be with my husband. btw, he is healthy as a horse now. i should have written a review then, as we were both very impressed.

How pissed were you at your husband???? Just kidding......that is one of the best reports for a hotel/B&B I have read. It is not too late to post a review even a couple years later....just explain the time lapse. Must have been a scary time and I am so glad your husband has fully recovered. Thanks for sharing.

Have stayed at SMOB (friends) 5 times and Dewey (husband) 3 times...love Dewey. Beautiful Houses, smaller rooms but super clean and comfortable. No children on the premises and we've stayed each time on the first floor, no issue with noise at all. Innkeepers were fantastic, great breakfast on the patio every morning and tea w/desert every afternoon. Love being able to walk off the patio to sand & beach bar, pool close too! I would ask for room that is on the LaMer side, when you sit on your private porch you see the fountain and the beach, the other side of the house, we had an enclosed porch, no view, but again we are never in the room! Would suggest this B & B to anyone!
