Fourth trip for our anniversary 1st of December. Staying at the Reach. No car. one week. Any suggestions? Old enough to be in the old fart generation.

El Siboney, 900 Catherine St., 296-4184, for Cuban food, is not too far from where you will be staying. Cuban food is well seasoned, but *not* hot.

Caroline's Cafe, 310 Duval St., 294-7511, local cuisine, very good food, reasonable prices for Key West.

I agree with Edgar&Ron, El Siboney is excellent for Cuban food and Caroline's has great food as well. Carolines burgers are great you may have to share they are huge. As you are staying on the Atlantic side I don't have much experiance there but understand Louies Backyard is good. If get a chance try spending some time around the Key West Bight. The boardwalk around the bight take you past some great places for food and entertainment. For day time entertaiment I love Schooner Wharf. As an old fart I don't get into the loud music at Sloppy Joes, but there is a little bar across the street that sometimes has an entertainer I enjoy. Does oldies and adds some humor. Calls him self Uncle Bob. You can't help but have a good time. I have been going to the rock for over twenty year at least one a year and have not been bored yet.

Champagne Sunset sail on the Pelican which includes shrimp and other snacks. Leaves from the Casa Marina dock and costs $55.00 pp. Ask your concierge or call Sebago.

You'll be down at the "quiet" end which is absolutely lovely, and not a far walk from all the "louder" spots if you should get the urge to go for a stroll. There's a lovely beach bar right next to your hotel (it might actually be connected) where you can have a cold beer and stare at the water for hours. Also you're on the end of Duval that has more nice artsy shops (as opposed to the Ed Hardy T-Shirt end of the street). On our last visit, we had a nice time wandering through those and chatting with the owners, even found some pretty great, unique souvenirs to take home.

In addition to the places already suggested, I would recommend Crossiants de France for a delicious light breakfast or lunch! Or just a mid-day pastry to snack on while you wander around looking at the beautiful architecture and foliage on this wonderful island.

Rent bicycles for the week!

We too are in what would probably qualify as the old fart category, but Key West being flat, lends itself well to getting around on bikes. All the rentals I've seen have baskets and locks, getting goodies home from shopping trips was no problem.

We realized that we did a LOT more casual exploring of the area on bikes than we would have had energy for on foot. Last year, we rented bikes for just one day, and didn't see nearly as much as we did this year. There are bike racks everywhere, it was a great way to get around!

Danger Charters - either the all day Eco Tour or the Sunset Sail. Low key, wonderful crew and beautiful boats. More relaxed atmosphere than one of the motor catamaran tours.

For a quiet (romantic) evening, have a glass of one of the dessert wines at Better Than Sex Dessert Restaurant.

Pedal over to the Cuban Coffee Queen for a delightful start to your day! Cuban coffee con leche with a side of Cuban bread. Carry it over to the dock area and sit and watch the boats bobbing in the water.
