Do shops close up during certain months

Is Labor Day weekend a bad time to travel to key west, due to rainy/hurricane season?

Just wondering if things close up.

Labor Day in Key West is just as busy as any other big weekend, busier maybe. Norhing, shops, bars, watersports, etc closes. As far as weather us concerned, it's a Crap shoot and impossible to predict or say, on average, what it will be like.

In October, we found a few businesses had closed for a week, or two, or thereabouts (signs posted on the door). It seems to be up to the business owner when and how long to close.

That said, I think you will always find more open for business than not, when you visit.

After labor day many restaurants close for a week or two, not all the same ones. Blue heaven closes for the longest, about 6 weeks. If you have your heart set on a specific one, call first. If not, plenty of places will still remain open.
