Banana Republic. So we can find decent clothing without going to MIA.

Banana Republic is right on Duval, yes? I'm thinking perhaps many fewer $5 stores and cruise ships. .

Nope. No more. Now where do we get clothes in a hurry for a wedding or court?

Portillo's, every town needs a great hot dog/Italian Beef restaurant :)

Wow, Portillos! I grew up in Chicago and miss the Italian Beef and Combos every day! You get my vote!

While I'm not so much a Banana Republic guy I agree that the island needs some decent places to buy clothes. Also a good fishing tackle shop. There is a fly fishing store and Key West Bait and Tackle has a small selection of gear but that's it.

Key West is one step away from having no bookshops.

This may be a bit off topic, but 2 years ago, we found out the hard way that the medical center in Key West is woefully unable to handle really serious stuff (heart attacks, strokes, etc). If you have a stroke on KW, they have two helicopters pre-flighted, and their only option is to keep you alive for the 90 minutes it takes to get you to Miami. With the fairly large number of retirees in KW and the keys in general, I'm surprised at the lack of serious medical care.

With that in mind, I'm also surprised that KW has never really promoted its junior college. It would appear to me that KW would be a great place to have a seriously good college, but the local junior college is poorly supported, unpromoted, and as a result poorly attended.

Right SDT? Try as I might, I've never had a better Italian Beef! Dick Portillo has a strong connection to Key West, we were lucky to have his "Key Wester" restaurant here for many years. Wonder why he never opened something small in KW? I mean, Mr. Z's has a great following proving not everyone wants an expensive sit down meal 3 times a day.
