Hilton Expansion/Renovation

The "Longboat Observer" reports that the Hilton on Longboat is planning a major upgrade and renovation for next year. If they get all of the necessary approvals (and that's not always a sure thing) construction would begin in May 2013. A portion of the hotel would be torn down at that time and replaced, increasing the number of rooms available; another portion of the building would be renovated. The new rooms would be angled more so that there is a more direct view of the Gulf. Conference room space would also be increased.

Great news. Heard it was time for a bit of an upgrade there.

Definitely! The place was built about 40 years ago, and though they've had good maintenance I think it was showing its age a bit. I really like the fact that the rooms will face the water more.
