Marriott Vacation Club switcheroo

I booked a stay for what I thought was the Marriott Marco Island (a one bedroom suite), and I happened to find out I was going to be put at the Marco Beach. The sales rep either was clueless or lied to me. Has anyone had a similar experience. I know I saw one posted, but can't find it. I want my full refund, they won't give it to me, and I can't imagine I am the first person this happened to. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The Marco Beach Resort? If so, its a very high end, very nice hotel. Check out their web site.

Did you book the timeshare preview package for Crystal Shores?

I know they have a deal where if you agree to sit thru the pitch, they put you up for 4 nights at the Marriott MI. They do throw in a disclaimer that they have the right to provide similar accomodations. I suppose maybe the do this if the hotel is full. Once you booked the actual dates, the travel specialist should be able to secure the room and let you know this ahead of time.

Bob811, now we all want to know...did they put you at the Marco Beach Resort instead of the Marco Marriott? We think you'll be very pleasantly surprised if so. Let us know!

They were going to put me at the Marco Beach resort. After talking to four managers, I finally got my full refund. It was more of a principle with me. The original sales rep flat out lied to me on what hotel we were going to be staying at, and that it was fully refundable if we didn't go. I don't do business with companies that lie to get a sale. As I told the last manager, it was unethical. I won't be doing business with Marriott Vacation Club. I saw a coupls similar posts where they were expecting to be at the Marriott Marco Island and ended up, unknowingly, at the Marco beach, and were disappointed. I printed and faxed it to the Marriott folks. Thanks for the input.

Somehow I doubt the Marriott representative was the 'clueless' one here nor do I think that they were lying. Usually the folks that make these kind of accusations either don't understand the deal (always read the details of participation) or expect/want more than they are entitled to.

If this was a MVCI package then Marriott usually reserves the right to book the accomodations at a Marriott approved location---in this case, apparentally a very nice one.

Well, although you were not a part of my conversation with the Marriott rep, thanks for your opinion on who the clueless one was. Not accusing anybody, just stating the facts. Appreciate the valuable input however.
