rental cars on/near on the island

My husband and I are coming to Marco to visit with his parents for a few days and leave our son with them while we have a little get away. We'd like to visit the Caribbean or somewhere where flying out of Miami would be the most direct/ cheapest. Is there a place on Marco to rent a car to get there or is there a car service that will take us there? thanks for any suggestions you may have.

There is a Hertz at the Marriott. That's the only one I know of right on the island.

Enterprise Rental also has an office on the Island, on Bald Eagle Drive.

However, there are several car services that run between the various airports. If you search the MI forum for airport car service, you'll find several discussions about specific car services recommended by the TA "regulars".

We used Classic taxis on the island to take us from Miami airport and back. Marco and back. Reliable, but expensive.

You are better off to rent a car. There is a company out of Naples, American Comfort Limo that offers the best rates and the reservations dept. at the Marco Marriott use them, but it's $220 one way for a town car.
