Public Tennis Help Please

I understand from checking prior posts that two locations with public access to tennis courts are the YMCA and Collier County Racquet Center. Great!

We are renting a home next week, but have a couple of avid young tennis players who may go into serious "withdrawal" if we cannot find them easy access to some courts.

Wondering if the courts on the Tommy Barfield elementary / middle school premises might be accessible to them as well? All suggestions welcome.

Thank you.

I am just back from Marco and thought I would answer my own question just in case others might be looking for tennis options.

Great courts at both the YMCA and the Collier County Racquet Center are available to the public. Two of the grandchildren are competitive tennis players so we engaged a pro to work with them one day at the Racquet Center and were pleasantly surprised at his rate of $50 for an hour and that included the court time. This particular gentleman (AL) was quite mature but very skilled and a great tennis coach. He gave the boys a good workout on drills and also taught them a new bit of strategy that will help them with their game. So...if anyone loves tennis but is renting a home (no tennis courts), there should be no problem getting in some good court time on Marco!

Afraid I would not be much help to a Marco Veteran such as you are, JackiePaddy. Actually, reading your posts and those of KevDeb helped us with making our arrangements for our first visit to Marco.

We ate at the Snook Inn twice and dropped in at a little mall restaurant called Hoots that was near our rental home. Hoots is not much for atmosphere, but the food was quite good...especially the seafood bisque. Other than that, we were pretty focused on tennis, fishing, and scouting out real estate by riding our bikes! The rest of our meals came from the grill on the lanai...Oh, and walks to ColdStone Creamery for desserts!

Thanks! We love Hoots for breakfast/brunch. One of our long-time faves. How long was the line at Stone Cold?

So, you are familiar with Hoots, JP? That's interesting. We just "stumbled across" the place one of our first nights when looking for a quick meal. Will have to try for breakfast next time!

ColdStone wasn't too bad the first night we walked down there...well staffed to handle the business. On New Year's Eve??? We just gave up and settled for Tutti Frutti...the line was too Looooong at ColdStone.

Hoots used to have a different name and a different location and we loved it. The owners moved and we followed them. Love it!
