Marco Island or St. Thomas in Feb/March???

We have enough Marriott points to go to either. We have gone to St. Thomas several times in the past and would like to give SW Florida a try. Our only fear is the weather. I know in St. Thomas in late Feb/early March (just before the big influx of spring breakers), the weather is going to be 82 and sunny every day. I don't know what to expect in SW Florida, and therefore, I am afraid that I could get stuck with a week in the 60's.

Any thoughts - good or bad? Thanks!

From weather.com...the table of monthly average temperatures for March. This will give you an idea of historical averages for Marco Island.

Last February there was a cold snap and we woke to temps in the low 50's for two days. The afternoon temps got into the 60's with bright sunshine but we were in jeans and sweaters for 2 days. The remainder of the week we were on the beach with more seasonal temps. The water is cold however so swimming in the gulf is not really a option in February.
