August wedding

Hey everyone. We're making our first trip to Marco Island in August. We've rented a house and are looking to get married on the beach at sunset. Someone had mentioned that the bugs are horrible at this time and we should consider getting married earlier. Is there any truth to this? should we take this into consideration? Also if there is anything else you love about the area that we should check out or you want to share it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There are definitely noseeums on the beach at dusk but I wouldn't say there are swarms of them and that they would ruin your wedding. You could certainly move the ceremony up a bit and be available at sunset for pictures. Now having said that, I am not a bug magnet. My husband and daughter seem to attract them and get eaten alive. We have been at the beach at dusk a few times and bugs were not a huge deal, more like a minor annoyance. If your ceremony is going to be short and sweet, I don't think you'll have an issue.

You can always put, bounce dryer sheets ( no kidding ) in your pockets. It really works, we've been doing it for years
