it is before a cruise, we have a car from Sat until Sun afternoon, then our cruise leaves on Monday. We thought once we dropped our car off, we would like to be near the port as well as any kind of boardwalk, beaches etc... so we could wander by foot to check out Miami a bit.

would love some ideas as to where we can walk too - I always like to pose the question to the experts.... if you had one day to show someone you knew around, what would be the things you would say they should NOT miss. Then I can plan my day around that :)

Nothing near the port.

You want a 3* downtown near Bayside, or a hotel on South Beach.

Matt,

Would you actually advise walking to the port?

Perhaps I was unclear. You walk to Bayside.

You only walk to the port if you want a choice between a heart attack or being run over by an 18 wheeler.

ha ha.... Matt lol. we are not worried about taking a cab if we need too, we just thought it would be easier if we had a hotel near port as well as near beach or mall or something as we are supposed to be giving our car up today.

We are literally just trying to see if we can keep the car another day without our rate going up ridiculously. also... since we booked everything and arrived we have been educated that the miami airport is a complete sh** show to get into and out of, that is where we listed as dropping our car off at because we don't know anything about where anything is.

I would book the hotel on South Beach. That's the area that you'll want to see (beach, art deco buildings, great food) and you can get around there without a car. But in answer t o where would I take a guest? I would be heading to the Evergldes for a big part of the day. You would need a car for this but you should be able to pick one up at the airport and drop on the beach or just do a one day rental from Miami Beach area.
