Dolphins game Questions???

This is for some long term planning. We will be in Fort Lauderdale a couple of days in December. We plan to get tickets for a Dolphins game on Sunday, December 2. We will have a rental car. QUESTIONS: 1) How long will it take to drive to the stadium if we leave Ft Lauderdale about 10:30? 2) Is parking available for all cars, or must it be reserved? 3) If you arrive early, are there bars or restaurants near by to use and then walk to the stadium? 4) What is best route from near Ft Lauderdale airport? Any info/advice is welcome. Thank you.

UK Dolfan - can't help with time from Fort Lauderdale I'm affraid - but the link may help with parking details.

www.sunlifestadium.com/content/parking.aspx

although lots of season ticket holders also have parking permits to park close to the stadium you may be able to buy a parking permit for less on stub hub often season ticket holders will sell them if they can't make the game - worth a look.

If you arrive at the stadium and park up - pretty much the only place to go are to the Bars in the stadium it's self. There's plenty of entertainment, live music etc. There are some places on the way to the ground but I couldn't vouch for them! Enjoy the game - Fins up!

Hello! Welcome to the Miami forums.

A drive from the greater Ft. Lauderdale area will be 30 minutes or less at that time.

Parking is readily available for all vehicles. A permit is not required. The cost for parking is $25. If you arrive early, the lots open up four hours prior to kickoff. Even if you don't have all of your tailgating here on your holiday, I have often made due with a styrofoam cooler and a disposable grill. Tailgating is huge here in Miami and you might want to look around at the elaborate setups people bring, the best of those are on the East side, close to the stadium.

On the South side of the stadium there is often live entertainment, food vendors, and an outdoor bar without seating. There are also games for the kiddies and raffles.

On the North side of the stadium, they have had in the past few seasons a tailgate party that costs $50 per person and includes all you can eat BBQ and all you can drink beer, wine, and soda. The details usually don't become available until preseason starts and tickets to this sell out early.

If you have a ton of extra cash, you can get access to club Liv before and after the game. The club is modeled after the famous club on South Beach and will only set you back $325 per person, it does include a righteous seat on the 200 level.

Saludos,

Yogi

Just to let you know - Sun Life Stadium isn't really in Miami : ) It's in a city called Miami Gardens which is on the edge of Miami-Dade County and Broward County so it's an easy hop from the Ft Lauderdale airport.

As you come out of the airport, follow the signs to the Turnpike. Take the turnpike south to the signs for the stadium. Super simple! It's about 18 miles away.

And take Miamiyogi's suggestion about tailgating. Way more fun (and cheaper!) than heading to a bar. Plus you'll meet lots of great people. Be sure to get there early so you have plenty of time to enjoy the pre-game festivities. And if you don't want to grill you can get a sub from Publix Supermarket and eat that. You can drink in the parking lot so it's a big party. Enjoy!
